An injection system is used as an efficient method of treating water chemically via consistent introduction of chemicals via a dosing pump. The system consists of several different components. There is the solution tank, dosing pump, flow switch, and injection fitting. The solution tank is a holding tank for your concentrated chemical mixture. Your chemical solution is dependent on your water chemistry and can be made from chlorine, soda ash, or a mixture of both. The dosing pump is responsible for pulling the solution from the holding tank and into your household plumbing. There are many different types of pumps on the market, and they all operate differently, but all serve the same purpose. The flow switch is a component that can detect when water is being used. When you turn on a faucet, flush a toilet, etc, the flow switch picks up that flow and sends a signal to the pump to begin pumping solution into the water line. Your pump should only be running when water is being used in the house. The injection fitting is a component that makes the connection from the pump into the plumbing line. Not only is this fitting responsible for injecting the solution into the plumbing, but it also prevents water from flowing backwards into your solution tank via an internal check valve. All components are crucial for proper operation of the system.
